EXL deposit safe

Got this from an on-line auction a couple days ago. It was listed as 'locked open, no combo'. Funny thing about it is the fact that my wife noticed it. Only 2 hours remained to bid. SHE asked me if I was going to bid. That statement alone meant a free ticket to bid. I got the winning bid at $74.27, including buyer's fee and tax. FireKing now owns EXL. This safe was made before FireKing got involved. The closest comparable safe that FireKing has to this EXL has a $1500 retail value.

Re: EXL deposit safe

Its purpose is to be some kind of a night safe with burglary protection? The bolts look sturdy. Does it have any rating?

This (tit) prevents the slamming of door with bolts extended.

Just from the photo of the door it looks like the bolts slam first.

Re: EXL deposit safe

When the tit hits the front edge of the door cavity (safe body) when closing, spring attached to tit activates and 'springs' out metal retainer from locking bar groove and door shuts like it should.
No rating.

Re: EXL deposit safe

I think what he's trying to say is it locks the boltwork in the unlocked position while the door is open (thus preventing slamming door with the bolts extended) and then releases it when the door is closed so it can be locked. :)

Much better explanation than mine.
