Abus Combi 150 Cracked

I've been seeing this lock listed for $150 or more on eBay, which I know is waaaay to high haha. But I found one buy it now for $20 with no combo so I decided to see what all the hype was about. I got it and had it cracked in about 5 minutes but I think it is a really really cool old combo lock. Not $150 cool but I think it was worth what I paid for it.

The bottom 5 switches are where you put in the combination and the top switch opens the lock when you swing it to the left after entering the correct combo on the bottom 5 switches. I figured it would be harder but I put some pressure on the top switch and moved the bottom 5 back and forth. I'm pretty sure it has false gates because each one had a few dull clicks then one distinct click so I wrote down the numbers that each switch made the different sounding click. Then entered them and pushed the top switch to the left and *Pop* haha. It opened. I might have just gotten lucky but I'm happy and had fun playing with it. And being an old Abus it is a really heavy duty, well built lock.

Re: Abus Combi 150 Cracked

I have a newer version of the current Abus padlock like this one but I don't remember if it's the same model number.
My supplier had a couple of them in their dead inventory pile. I thought they were cute little locks so I grabbed both of them. They're nickel or chrome plated now if I remember right. Makes me want to try to find where mine are in storage so I can give decoding them a try. Thanks for the post and pics.

I love combination padlocks! Like little portable puzzles :D

Nice work! So looks like each lever has five possible positions?

Thanks! That's right 5 positions on 5 of the switches.

• 150/40 Abus Combi D.B.P - D.B.G.M [right]
