Not quite.
Very old strong boxes such as these commonly had a fake front keyhole to distract thieves and had a hidden keyhole in the lid. The turn of the key would move all of the boltwork and it was usually very intricate.
Check this out for some visuals.

Wow amazing box and big thanks for the video Riyame. What language is that and where is that museum? Would very much like to visit it. Comparing the locking technology from the earlier locks we see in the video it appears as if the lever locks around the 1900 were much weaker. I mean look at those keys and keyways in the video that looks so much more complicated to make and probably pick then the lever locks from around 1900.

It's from Gringots bank.

That has to be one of the coolest mechanisms I have ever seen!! Seeing old stuff made to that level of precision puts what I am doing right now to shame.
Re: Antique Strongbox
Oh my word, that boltwork is amazing.
I think I may have just had a small accident while watching that video.
So much want.

Made by those who love what they do and are skilled to boot. Used to have a small strongbox used by Wells Fargo in their stage coaches in the 1800s that was also clearly handmade and had similar - albeit much less complex - mechanisms. Had eight latches instead of the dozens in your video.
