Graph 2.JPG

Slow but still spinning.
finally graph 2.
Combo still 25-50-75
Really enjoy reading what everyone else is doing.....and learning tons.
Thanks

It doesn't appear that this graph is telling you a whole lot, but I would run W1 and W2 through the area 60-45 again with W3 @ L75. We know the combination and know that there is a gate lurking in there, so this is a good exercise in checking your work :)

It could be that there isn't a gate indicating there, but that is a nice low area, and it's fairly narrow. My first suggestion would be to run that area again and see if you get the same results. Since you know where the gate is, there is a temptation to feel something that you really don't feel, but the flip side is that maybe you didn't feel something that actually was indicating, although slightly. Try going through there again and see what happens.

Not sloppy work, just the learning curve :)

Okay, so the next step in the process would be to identify which wheel this gate signature corresponds to. I know we already know that, but it's a good exercise. Try doing the hi/low tests and see what you come up with. You obviously don't have to test W3 since you already have that gate, but test the other two and see what the results are. It's good practice and will help build your skills.

Working off of Daggers Down load. Page 20 Low testing.
W3 = 75

So only need to test wheels 1 and 2

L40 R50 R50 RCP 12.5 LCP 4.75 Contact area: 7.75
L50 R40 R50 RCP 13 LCP 4 Contact area: 9

Confused. :???:

Is that it? I feel I'm missing something.
Wheel 2 is indicating.
So the combo is L??-R50-L75, on to Brute Forcing wheel 1?

YES!

I'll tell you that I'm not a fan of high/low tests but you have a HUGE indication there. The idea is that when your suspected gate is NOT dialed into the correct wheel that your indications will be a wider contact area. This is because your suspected gate is NOT under the fence. Since you already know that your suspected gate is NOT on W3, that leaves W1 and W2. In your first low test, your suspected gate is dialed into W2 and W3. You have a contact area of 7.75. When your suspected gate is dialed into W1 and W3, your contact points make a HUGE jump to 9. This means that your suspected gate is NOT under the fence, which only can mean that it's on W2. Does that make sense? It's sometimes hard to wrap your head around, but yes, W2 is indicating the gate.

So now, yes, brute force W1. I usually dial every 2 increments instead of every 2.5 when brute forcing just to be sure I don't miss a gate. Still, only 50 combinations to try, and if you start at zero, since we know the combination, it won't take very long to pop this thing open.

Nice work!

Graph number 2 is clearly showing a gate between 50 and 55 so you did a good job.
About the hi low test, if you test just two wheels, put the third at its known gate. 50 60 75. 60 50 75. Ant then 50 40 75. 40 50 75.
Hope this makes sense.
Cheers :)

So being that I'm kinda lazy sometimes I brute forced using 2s instead of 2.5.
I was surprised it did open using 24 as the first number. As I had set the first number at 25.
Wouldn't open using 26.
would using 25.5.

Guessing maybe when I set the combo originally I was not quite on 25.
Or maybe I lean to the left when I dial.

Thanks to all that helped me down the road.

I now have a map........but getting lost is half the fun. :D

Great work Jharvee! The dialing tolerances on these locks aren't as tight as advertised usually. I think 6730's are supposed to have a tolerance of about 1 increment (I can't remember for sure) but usually they will open if you are off just a little bit due to tolerances in the lock. It could also be that the number wasn't set to exactly 25 when you set the combo...all factors that will allow the lock to open even if you're not on the correct number exactly. That's why going around the dials in 2's will usually open the lock.

But great work! Get that combo changed and start over!

Nice work Jharvee. I like the systematic approach you're using. Step by step checking you work. Good job!!

Ok, I'm back at spinning.
Had the wife set the combo so I don't know it.(probably never will)
I went AWL
AWR.

It's my goal to just find one number of the combo.
I need help.

Pointers, tips and suggestions are welcome.
No need to point out I suck at this right now.
I am aware.

Ok.......tease if you must.

Wazup jharvee :) Good to see ya still at it.

Surely you've already got your eye on that promising area around 56.
Next step would be to amplify it. Run through this area again, but take
a reading at EVERY increment instead of every 2.5. This will help you
find the true center of the gate.

From there you'll use hi/low testing and/or isolation
to determine WHICH wheel this gate belongs to.

Often times, finding a gate or even two within your first spin is not too difficult.
The challenge begins when you start trying to tag the gate to a particular wheel.

Yes, when the graphs point at each other you should listen. 12, 56, and maybe 65
