My Key Machine refurbishing thread

This is just a thread for me to update when I refurbish one of the key machines I have.

First is the HPC1200CMB (code-a-key)

This is what it looked like when I first got it, it had the wires cut on the 12V motor so I didnt even know if I could fix it without buying a new motor... but I got it real cheap so I took a chance.

Stripped it down,

Primed,

Painted and put back together,

Got a 120v motor so I thought I would change the paint scheme,

Next up.... Rytan 100

Re: My Key Machine refurbishing thread

Only have a few of the Rytan because I lost the thumb drive I had all the other pics on..

This is about how it looked when I got it, It had a burned up Motor Run Capacitor and burnt out wiring so it didnt work,

Ordered some parts from Rytan, stripped it, painted it and put it back together with new Motor run cap, carriage shaft and pin and all the other parts.

This thing cuts FAST!!!

Next up, HPC Scotsman, This had burnt out wiring when I got it but I fixed that in a matter of minutes when I got it home...
Maybe this time I will try powder coating unstead of painting... ?

Nice job on the key machines. I can appreciate the effort. Go for the powder coat. While it increases the input costs the durability is worth it. After powder coat can custom plating be far behind?

Re: My Key Machine refurbishing thread

Ok, I decided to work on the old Micrometric key machine before the HPC Scotsman because I can find parts for the Micrometric (same as Ilco 008 mini mite)

Anyone know if you can get parts for the Scotsman? I had a website saved on a different computer (dont have that one any more) that I could get the clear plastic cover/guard but now cant find it.
My Scotsman is an old version of the code cutter so I wanted to get the plastic handle that went onto the duplicating knob that had the numbers on it.

Anyone ever se a place that sells the plastic cover and the other thing?

Cant hurt to ask

If you scroll down to page 95 it looks like they will sell parts direct - might be worth giving them a call Monday!

Re: My Key Machine refurbishing thread

Please link me to the 120v motor you used on the HPC 1200 and if there are any specific setup instructions for it.

Thanks so much! :D
