Re: Members Say Hi

My name is Travis, I'm a hobbyist. I've been picking for 16 years. I work as an IT Manager for Maine's largest newspaper, but only just. Had I not landed this job my plan was to launch a locksmithing business. But, frankly, tech pays better, and I've got a family, so there it is.

In my spare time, recently, I've started a training website for teaching people locksmithing. I figure if I can't afford to start my company, I can at least spread along the knowledge and teach people the trade. Especially in Maine, where the factories are closing, and entire towns are getting laid off. I figure if I can teach even one of these mill workers the skills required to become a locksmith, I can call my little side project a success.

This is the first time I've joined a forum about picking, but I've loved reading up on it so far.

Let's just be honest. Maine is just a large cult. And a small town.

Re: Members Say Hi

Hi, I'm Dennis.
I've been repinning locks and doing some casual picking for some time. I have tools for originating Best, Schlage SC, and Quickset plus space and depth sets for some others. I've been trying to pick the control line on Best SFIC without success so far. I have the special tensioning wrenches, but I don't seem to be able to manipulate them well enough. The operating lines always release on me. :-(

My Name is David, perhaps more out of survival in school than necessity, I began picking locks other students were putting on my toolbox or locker. That was quite a long time ago. Overall locks fascinate me.

Re: Members Say Hi

Hello everyone. I am D2P and I have been an apprentice for quite some time now. I enjoy picking by hand and get great satisfaction when the boss and I race for who buys lunch. He and his pickgun on a service door and myself and my chosen hand tools usually on an unused front door. It has been quite the race at times. Lol! He has made my picking progress at quite a nice rate with things of this nature. I practice on anything and everything I can. And love to learn. Thank you for allowing me in and I hope to learn a lot from some of you I have read about.

Hi Safecracler33, in which region do you operate? From your knowledge about Chubb locks I presume in the UK?
