Hopefully this is in the correct section but are the 5 and 6 pin american cores interchangable for the American 5200 series locks? i purchased a core on ebay to replace the one in one of my american locks, but didn't realize it was a 6 pin core until after the purchase, my american locks are both 5 pins
Re: American Lock Core Question
The US marked 5200 locks have a shorter body and can only use a 5 pin cylinder, the normal 1100 and 5200 locks all use a 6 pin which can be keyed for 5 or 6 pins.
The original 5 pin cylinder, APTC15, is no longer made, they now use a Master keyway cylinder and driver. A good source for these is www.mrlock.com
The 5 pin (drilled for 6) cylinder is APTC12, the 6 pin cylinder is APTC14.

Re: American Lock Core Question
Marked US on the back? both of mine are marked US on the back and only one of them says USA MADE below the American lock logo on the front, both use the old style keyway, and the cores will do 5 pins max only

Here is what the locks look like:

The 6 pin cylinder will make a great training aid, if you need some serrated or spooled driver pins, just shoot me a PM.

Re: American Lock Core Question
I bought it to get more practice with spool and serrated pins, i got too good at picking my two 5200 series locks, both 5 pins, one has 3 spools and no serrations, and the other has two serrated spools and all serrated driver and key pins
