I have a lock similar to the brinks kw1 rekeyable padlock. It was given to me unlocked, so I took out the core. now I have the core that needs to be rekeyed but I'm having trouble picking it.what do you think I should do? maybe try bumping it?

Is this the same concept as the schlage cylinder I talked about a while back?

the brinks housekey carries spools, and i have only seen schlage keyways..
can you get a false out of the lock?
ToolyMcgee wrote:Cool, that's my old Schlage practice padlock. Currently keyed 828283 with 3 spool drivers. I doubt I could cut a key for it that wouldn't get stuck. If I could, but didn't know how, then this thread would have been quite helpful. Cool post. Where did you get the depth card? With a pinning kit?
awol70 wrote:cool.. does yours have the stainless keypins?
(i am guessing not, with a radical bitting like yours.)
the decoder comes with the brinks housekey padlock, along with a small pinning kit.
i find this lock much more challenging W/O security pins...
(the stainless ones are a real ßIT¢# to pick.)
