I received this generously stuffed box of goodies from a trade with our own elbowmacaroni. I thought I'd post up pictures as I pick things, gutted if there's anything interesting inside. Some really cool stuff here!

Alright, lets get picking!
I'd start with the largest and work my way to the smallest.

That's the idea. Problem is my beer fridge went insane and froze all my beer down to 13F. It ruined about 30 gallons. Poor elbow is going to have to wait until I get some more ready.
The first two contenders fell to a snake rake. I tried to gut the Russwin, then promptly dropped all the little wafers and pins on the floor. I thought I found them all, but I can't get the lock open again now that I've put it together :/

Nice easy one for a Tuesday.

One lock at a time, MSB. One lock at a time. Keep going!

Nice pickin'

Huh don't know where my post went. Hope this doesn't duplicate.
I managed to get that Russwin back open. Is there a right way to put the wafers back in? Shouldn't the keypins line up to open the lock even if the wafers weren't there?
Also got an open on this old guy. Looks like he's seen some tough times. EDIT: I realize I photographed the key backwards. Sorry about that!

Re: Big box o' locks-pickin' and guttin'
The key pins should line up even without the wafers IF the key is cut for that bitting. For every stack with a wafer in it, the number of keys that will work doubles. So for that Russwin with three wafers, there are eight keys that will open the lock. Only one of those eight keys will have all the key pins lined up at the sheer line. The remaining keys will line up one or more wafers at the sheer line. That is why master keying weakens the security of the lock. That lock has eight ways it can be picked.
Keep up the work!

Looks like chamber one has two master pins, which would give you 2 more. Yes? Or more? I guess 12.
Re: Big box o' locks-pickin' and guttin'
Hate it when I use my phone to look at pictures. Yes, there is one more thin wafer in the first pin stack, so yes, 12 possible keys.

Well here was a surprise! Tried out my new Peterson "Hook 2" and had this Best open in just a minute.

'Nuther one bites the dust. Not sure what this guy is, but it's been picked! No markings other than the 7 embossed on the front of the bible.
After prying off that stamped steel cap at the tail, I got it apart. Nothing special inside, but the driver pins all have a little nipple on the bottom. I don't know if that's intentional or just bad machining.
Of course, I carefully reassembled it and put the e-clip back on. That's when I noticed I put the plug in from the wrong end. Oopsie!
