WANTED: Safe lock parts

So, what do YOU need to get that lock spinnin' again?!
A thread for anyone & everyone to post their 'wanted ads'
Buy, trade, OR simply help point someone in the right direction.

Although my selection of spare (or unique) parts are fairly limited...
you know me, I'll do whatever I can to help you get yours running.
Maybe I'll eventually compile a small list of what I have to offer.

This vintage Mosler bank lock has sat in my drawer for far too long.
I would absolutely LOVE to get this old beauty running again!

AND, it would serve as my first experience with a spring-loaded roller fence :D

Image
Fairly obvious I think as to which part I require. lol

Thanks in advance for any sort of help you may be able to offer.

Re: WANTED: Safe lock parts

Do you have the other parts for it and just need the broken one? Have you tried to fix that part?

Correct. Not pictured, but I do have everything else.

Riyame wrote:Have you tried to fix that part?
I have not. It may come to that though. If it does, I'll have to do some reading along with asking for
some advice.... I'm not a metals man, lol. I have ZERO experience with sodering or brazing of any sort.

Could just take it to a welding shop and they could do it for you. In and out in 20 minutes.

I doubt you'll find a part like that.
If it comes down to it and you are willing to pay for shipping, I can braze it for you at no charge.

Re: WANTED: Safe lock parts

You'll probably have to braze those two pieces together and then shape the excess with a file.

Good luck!

Re: WANTED: Safe lock parts

Perhaps this seller on ebay would sell you just the lock you need, and break up this 3 pack he has been trying to sell: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221239955806

Your lock looks like a Mosler B-6 to me (UPDATE: except that the B-6 used a round curb and wheelpack cover, your wheelpack is mounted to the rectangular back cover), but could be a newer model, I'm not sure if the seller is correct that these are HHM locks, maybe they came off HHM containers. I'll dig up some HHM stuff and see if we can figure out who made your lock.

hope that helps,
Squelchtone

Re: WANTED: Safe lock parts

Before attempting to repair that one part - I'd ask how did it get broken like that ? My guess is that the bolt was punched and in that case I'd be amazed if there was no damage to other parts (perhaps not so easy to fix .....)

Re: WANTED: Safe lock parts

Guys, thanks so much...

Riyame wrote:Could just take it to a welding shop and they could do it for you. In and out in 20 minutes.
I guess that never occurred to me. I don't really have any welding shops per say around me...
but I do know someone at an auto shop that does alot of odd jobs like that. I may
check into it, but I dunno if I'd really trust em' with something like this.

Altashot wrote:I doubt you'll find a part like that.
Yeah, I was afraid that might be the case.
Altashot wrote:If it comes down to it and you are willing to pay for shipping, I can braze it for you at no charge.
For you to offer your time & experience means a great deal to me! Much appreciated. I might take you up on that.
Always been impressed with your work... so the best part is that I'd have no doubt about the integrity of the piece.
Obviously, I'm capable of taking off the excess, and wouldn't expect that of you.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on that, and also taking the time to inquire about it for me. I've spent a little more than I normally do on this lock already
and it's about to get more expensive, lol. Even if he were to let that one lock go by itself... I'm thinking my offer would probably be too far from his.

You did prompt me to get it out and take a good look over the rest of the lock.
Thankfully, no damage.... so I'm still assuming it was broden en route.

Indeed MBI.... indeed!!!

I'd like to share what Altashot did. I'm really glad he documented it.
Not only is it a treat to see, but it's a great opportunity to learn a little.
