Best cabinet lock

Hey guys, I haven't posted lately as work has been keeping me busy day and night. Anyway, I had to pick this lock open at work this last week as the instructors had lost the keys. After getting it open, they wanted me to simply remove it as they don't want the cabinet locked anymore. I've had a lot of fun playing with it at night, picking it open over and over. However, I can not get it picked to control to remove the cylinder. I'm looking for someone to dissassemble it and make me a couple of keys, reguler and control. Anyone interested?

XEO, I watched your video, picked back up the lock,got out my favorite pick and had at it! I surprised myself and found I could pick it to control fairly fast and easily, once I figured out what was going on inside.. Then picking it to open got harder, as I kept setting the pins to deep. But now after about 6 different pickings, working every time, I tore it all down and I'm gonna cut keys for it.Hopefully I'll get some pictures up in the next day or so.

I know what you mean... the tendency to lift higher and higher is overwhelming sometimes. It does require discipline to stop lifting a pinstack because its just too much fun.

Well this has been a hell of an experiance. I've never had a Best lock apart before, but I love a challenge, so I just tore into it. I was going to take pictures of the pins and the cylinder all apart, but I spent so much hair pulling time trying to get a control key cut and pinned and 2 operating keys fitted with pins that I forgot to get the camara out.. But I was sucessful and managed to get it all together and working. The pins are now in a different configuration from when I started and it has 2 spool pins now to make it just a little bit harder. I'm really getting to like these Best locks ! I picked it a couple times after reassembly and I'm getting it down to less than 2 minutes for bith operating and control.

BEST and other SFICs are really fun to pick because they can be so wild at times... its always a fun challenge removing a core.

Xeo, yes your article was the answer. I really had no idea what the core looked like or how far the plug would turn in control. I was expecting the plug to rotate 180 deg or more in control. I kept getting false sets before and the plug would just veryly turn. I would just back the tension off a tad bit and lift the second pin a hair more to get the lock to open. After reading your post, I realized I needed to find the first pin that set and lift it higher to get a second set, then I was able to go through the process of single picking the rest to get them to control.
