Keymaster1053's locks part 2!!!!
Another Chicago No-key padlock.
a couple of Supra Products real estate box keys, and Chubb key.
an Old Medeco level one cam lock core.
This is an OLD style Medeco padlock removable core. Level one. back then you didn't use a key to remove the cyl. like today, there is a small pin at the back of the core, this is visible inside the shackle hole when the lock is open. to depress that pin, the key must be turned, so I had to open it, I modified a blank and inserted it before drilling, this was to push more of the pins into the path of the drill. and it opened like butter.
Here is a "peanut" cylinder. I put it next to a normal sized one for comparison.
This is an old Eagle lock mailbox lock, but it's different as it's a latch, not a bolt. this is the only one like it I've seen.
Medeco Level 5 Knob cylinder.
An Old Sesamee combo padlock, the only one of this style I've ever seen. there's a lever on the back that leads me to believe you can change the combo yourself.
Helmar Brewing Company padlock. these liquor bottle locks have a story all their own, I bought this off of Ebay and the auction had this in the description: I bought a bunch of these padlocks several years ago because I had never seen any locks
quite like these. Each padlock has a glass lens with a photograph behind it. I recently
wrote to Helmar Brewing Company to try to get more information about these padlocks. Here
is the reply I got from Charles Mandel, the President of Helmar Brewing Company:
"We made those a few years ago as part of a special closure for a beer bottle. I recall
that there were a huge number of different designs, somewhere around 650. Most designs had
only 3 pieces made. Some designs had as few as one lock made, a handful had as many as nine.
Around 500 of the designs were sports figures, nearly all of them were baseball related.
Hope this answers your questions. Charles Mandel, President Helmar Brewing Co."
Based on what Mr. Mandel says, these padlocks are in limited numbers. This one confidently
states 'YOU DON'T KNOW BEANS UNTIL YOU COME TO BOSTON, MASS'. This lock is unusual in that
it is deadlocking (takes the key to lock as well as unlock), yet the shackle is
spring-loaded. This lock is in very good condition and works perfectly.
Arlo Super-Lock key Hammond Industries.
