My Take on the Sharpie Pick Set Idea

I have always been fond of those James Bond-ish gadgets that look like an ordinary day to day use item, but turn out to be a useful tool (well... in reality more nifty than practical but still).
So naturally when I saw the Sharpie pick pen designs that are floating around here and on the other site, one of my first thoughts was "how cool would it be if it looked even more like a Sharpie" and once the thought was thunk I had to make it reality.
What I came up with was pretty much a dumbed down version of the designs I have seen. Swapping the Xacto vice tip for the added facade of the cut down (& hallowed out) cartridge (messy job if you don't do it right). Then the problem was just designing some picks to fit but are still relatively comfortable in the hand and quieting the rattle.
[I have to admit that at first I was a little worried about posting this; thinking it might come to abuse. However (like some of you have said elsewhere in the forum) I then thought about how long my road to learning lock picking and making half way decent picks has already been, and I (also) don't think anyone with sketchy motives would put in so much effort when there are much easier ways around locks]

So without further adieu here is the first attempt at the concept...



First time sewing... I now know I hate sewing! Ouch! But slide this over the picks and they sleep all cosy and quiet-like.


I know the picks aren't the best. They were just some early homebrew attempts that I didn't mind sacrificing to the project.

I really like what you've sone here. I like the idea of concealed picks, because I can stick them in my car and forget about em til I need em. Its not like somebody will just open my glove box, disassemble the sharpie and discovere the picks! I have a pick case in there now that this will most likely replace. Thanks for the post!

There is a cut down tension wrench in there too, it's actually the one I originally made for TOK on the Brinks locks. It just turned out to fit perfectly in the pack

I've seen ones where the tension wrench slides iinto the cap on the outside and becomes the pocket clip.

I love the idea and craftmanship .

Don't a lot of people do this to hid weed.

My only concern is one of "true stealth" Is this to hide from the average Joe or government types.

If the police, customs, screeners see this sharpie won't there be problems.

Now if someone could hide a secret release or even threads that work in the reverse direction that might mitigate the chance of being caught.

I saw a fake cigar once that was amazing and held picks. It was still "factory wrapped and sealed" and looked 100% non tampered. Problem was it was Cuban and thats an issue in the USA (or was at one time).
