My Pick Making Process - LARGE images

1. Cut the appropriate piece from my 'Bigass' coil o' metal.
Image
2. Sketch design onto blank in permanent (my ass) marker.
Image
3. Turn on the Beast.
Image
4. Rough out the shape, and watch permanent marker lines disappear.
Image
5. Refine and deburr edges.
Image
6. Size compared to a SouthOrd.
Image
7. Shaft size comparison highlighted.
Image
8. Shape and sand. 80, 150, 220, 280, 320, 400, 800.
Image
9. Polish. Polski!
Image
10. Drill holes.
Image
11. Pick a wood.
Image
12. Cut the wood.
Image
13. Epoxy the wood to the pick tang. Wait.
Image
14. Make sure things didn't explode or catch on fire over night!
Image
15. Turn 'wood' into handle.
Image
16. Hand hammer rivets, don't break handle.
Image
16. Get the sand paper... again.
Image
17. Get high... on laquer.
Image
18. Marvel at your hours of work. Wait for 3 year old to tell you "Hey, that's a nice pick, dad!"

Awesome. Thank-you for sharing. The only reason I haven't bought yet is because I am short of cash until next month.

The steel is 270,000 PSI 301 Stainless, I get it locally from my brother's shop who gets industrial orders.
