Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

Thanks again to all for letting me know I've come upon such a treasure (being a newbie, I would've never known). The pawnshop's holding onto the other 3 locks for me and may give me a deal for purchasing all 3. I'll let ya'll know what I pay just to make ya jelous LOL.

To those who've showed interest in buying one: Honestly, my only plans for them at this time is to become familiar with them (which might take a little while. lol). IF/WHEN I do sell any- I've noted (in order) who contacted me on which lock, and will certainly check with you accordingly (PM's sent). I still kinda fancy the idea of sending one on a tour- I don't know, maybe a good project for all of us this winter.

The majority of the locks in this shop are brought in by a retired cop who collects them. I'm really hoping to meet him sometime (he might be one of the cops that arrested me years ago! LOL). I'm sure the deals would be even better directly thru him. I'm told he has around 800 more in addition to the ones in the pawnshop.

Oh yea, the S&G whooped on me for an hour last night - just what I was hoping for! I hate asking for help without putting some effort in first. Time for some reading and vid-watching I guess. MisterSour, the combo is not gold plated, think it might have just been my lighting. Also, the combo that came with it doesn't seem to work (21-41-21-0).

I wouldn't resell them. I would keep them. I'm still drooling over that shrouded sargent. If you sell it let me know man! It will go on my collector shelf!

Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

Just got back with the other 3 locks. $33.33 each. $100 for all three!
Dave (cop) also wondered if I could open a couple of locks for him. lol

Well, after one "hail mary" hour with the S&G last night, it's time to get down to business. I'm gonna modify a plug follower to accept the end of the plug, take it apart and see what I'm dealing with. Maybe it'd be best to start with just a couple pins in hopes of getting a feel for picking/rotating them. Most of my time tonight will be spent looking thru the forum for info on these. LOVE this hobby, LOVE this forum!

Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

Dude I bought plenty of locks that i couldnt pick in the beginning just cause they were cheap at the time. a bunch i still cant pick, but thats besides the point. my rule is: if it's cool AND it's cheap... buy it!

Also, i had to modify a plug follower to make it fit the S&G 831B i got a few months ago, i'll take some pix of the home made follower if you want to copy it.

Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

Another trip to the pawnshop :) After chatting with Dave (retired cop/lock collector) for several hours and opening a couple locks for him, I walked out with these for $15. GOLDDOOR 4508 (7pin) and an IC BEST. The 6pin LION I'm hoping to open for him and bring it back ( surprisingly, having some trouble w/ it though)
Also learned that the S&G's I'd purchased were decommisioned locks from an airbase near Detroit (SelfRidge?)

Incase anyone's interested, here a couple of the highest priced locks ($80-90) I seen there.

Here's one of four sides of what I call the "rotating Christmas tree" :) If there's enough interest, I'll take take some better pictures of all sides. If you REALLY want something you see, I'd be happy to purchase/send it to you. Just cover the shipping for me. As I've mentioned, he has around 800 more locks at home- so if your looking for something specific, let me know and I'll ask him.

I'll usually use wooden doweling, so no loss. Fact I've never purchased a plug follower. And yes, I AM a lucky asshole. LOL

Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

Oldfast, you have some amazing finds there.

It's a generous offer to buy locks for folks and send them off without a markup, besides shipping. I can't tell you how tempting that is.

Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

oh, it'd be my pleasure. I'll probably never be able to give back as much as I've recieved from everyone here. I see the link to the last pic didn't turn out right. Think I should've tagged it as a URL maybe. Anyway, I'll take some better pics of all four sides of that rack and post em sometime.

Re: PawnShop (warning: lots of pics)

As promised, here's some pics of what I like to call the "rotating Christmas tree" :) I've taken 2 pics of each of the 4 sides and left them big in hopes that you can identify what you might be looking for (it also allows you to zoom in a little). They're labeled 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, etc. to help me figure out which one you might be interested in. (Sorry about the quality...I'm not a photographer)

As mentioned, I'm willing to purchase/send them out if ya happen to see something you REALLY want. Whatever he charges me is what you will pay (plus shipping of course...come on, I'm not THAT awesome : ). I'm happy to get additional info on a particular lock (pictures, prices, brand, condition....). Post on this thread if ya want, but your more apt to catch me thru a PM.

All sorts of locks...railroad, push-key, combos, magnetic, and a whooooole lot of other shit I'm not familiar with.

Hand cuffs: http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l507/Oldfast/Misc/005.jpg

You'll have to be patient, as their business hours more or less coincide with my work schedule. And, they're closed Sun & Mon.
One last note: I'm completely naive as to the true worth of any of these locks. Most of you will know better than I if they're fairly priced.....so I'll let you decide. However, if you have me purchase one for you, and later on you find that your asshole is sore because ya got fucked......don't blame me. LOL

LOL...LOL...LOL Every time I visit this forum I find myself poppin intermittent 1/2 chubbs to full-on chubbs. Unlike Sandman though, I don't think I've ever had to clean myself up after a browsing session. LOL
