the bigger lock is a lot harder to pick from the master 140 , but i have picked it a few times....

although I am struggling to get the "feel" when a pin has set!

also I have tried picking the locks of the doors in my house , and I am unable to open them...it just seems the lock picks dont fit inside the keyway and are not making good enough contact with the pins?

Might wanna be careful learning how to pick properly using the locks on your house...there is a chance you could do a bit of damage to them. Keep practicing on those clear spool pin locks you have. Keep it up though man! You'll get the feel for it. Just takes a bit of time.

lol why not? anyways I already did! my front door lock I can pick easy peasy its the inside doors that are a problem!

Good on ya if you can pick it and all...i always thought it would be a good idea to practice on locks that weren't essential to everyday life...such as my house doors heh...damn my parents would have belted me if i'd gone and duffed up the house locks.

Try using soapy water on the pick handles. Hold the business ends of the picks with pliers, so you won't jab your hands with them.

lol why not? anyways I already did! my front door lock I can pick easy peasy its the inside doors that are a problem!

just keep picking it and you will find out why...for example a 180% turn,mastering wafer falls out... (among a myriad of other things that can and will go wrong.)
what do you do next? which chamber did it fall from? will you even be able to find the wafer?
its just best practice to leave it alone..=)
as for the grips, hairspray . its slippery when applied and dries really tacky. keeps them on really well.(just dont use very much,and make sure your pick cores are clean and dry.)

hi porky please please never practice on doors locks in use if you mash it up n you will. gonna cost a bundle get some locks from ( yard sale thrift shop ) way cheaper grips on well the best lube is washing up liquid just a little be so careful so many guys have stuck picks through fingers n legs seriously you have to think about every thing n be one step ahead good luck in all you do but go slow friend

ok the reason I cant pick my locks in my house is the bottom part is not strait , soo the picks cant go in:( dammit!

I practice sometimes on my front door locks!!! The big difference is this: they are not masterkeyed, and if I mess something up I can always repin or fix what I break. It really isn't a good deal to practice on locks in use though. I find alot of locks at yard sales, by word of mouth, and from neighbors and family, people bring me locks all the time, It's all right if they break because it's not a disaster If I don't have parts to fix them!! Keep practicing man, and you will be another picking great, just start small and work your way up.

ok guys this is VERY wierd...

I have managed to pick the lock in my room a few times but the actual LOCK (the steel thing that locks the door in place) does not turn...

th cylinder makes a 180 degree turn but the lock does not move atall , if I put a LOT of tension on the tension wrench still it wont turn the actual lock it just gets stuck?


any ideas? the lock has been picked but its still not working!

also , with SPP I have no idea what im really doing , im feeling each pin and looking for the "binding" pin but it is very inconsistent! a snake rake is 100X easier but I want to be good at SPP!

You will find that alot of locks won't simply open with a snake rake, you have to learn SPP or else there is going to be lots of locks that simply you will not be able to open. As for your door now being messed up!! I don't know what to tell you, it could be any number of things, thats why a person shouldn't pick there locks in use unless they know how to fix them at the very least. Now that it's messed up, I guess your going to have to carefully take it apart and see what the problem is, doesn't really matter it's not funtioning now, so your not really going to mess it up any worse!

Gee whiz, Porky. What kind of locks do you have? What brand are they? I've never seen a residential lock that has restricted (or restrictive) key ways.

they are ised and some of them are fort knox locks.

by far the most difficult locks to pick , the master 140 is a joke with a S rake , but is a challenge SPP it.

the bigger master lock is harder but I have done it lots of times soo far ...

I have only picked the fort knox once soo far and it took me about half a frikking hour! and the ised same but the picks dont fit in nicely!
