Chubb Detector Spotted in the Wild...Today!

Hey guys. So I got a lock the other day. When I opened it up I got a bit of a surprise:



This lock was removed from service recently but I do not know the current 'secrecy status' of it. I can tell you that it is definitely a Chubb though! Chubb make a few secret locks.

Ah, govt containers, that makes a lot of sense now. I am hoping to have it picked soon, there is a vulnerability that is pretty easy to exploit (NOT Hobbs' method) because the control lever, at some point, has to bind

It has a stamp of "WLN"? Willenhall maybe?

No, it's an acronym for the maker who's name escapes me at the moment. Not Chubb made. I used to have one somewhere. Sometimes they have a keyhole guide / nozzle fitted.

So I have now seen a few more examples of this lock. Some are stamped "Chubb and Tann" while some are not...but they are clearly all the same.

Wesley Laing & Neill — but i don't have the correct spelling to hand.
Large numbers of detector cupboard locks were made for the Mod over the years, and the Post Office also had some.
There are variants of Chubb detectors, and they vary between makers and over time. Tann was, as mentioned, the other prolific maker.

I'd be interested in a Chubb Detector cutaway. (Not worried if it says Chubb, if that helps). Yes, can see it is an old thread, but my interest is still viable.
