Worn pins

Here are a couple shots of a pin removed froom a customer's lock. It had not been serviced in the last 30 years. Old Dexter deadbolt. This pin never rotated...It just rode merrily up and down the keys for years.

Here I thought the pins would randomly spin. But suppose the truth is, with a truly random selection, you will find some that don't move. Enough random number generation, you will find 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10.

I would think the first chamber, because that would wear the fastest. However, any of them could wear to this extent if given enough time.

I really don't know...My boss took in the lock. I think this was just the worst pin.

Surprised the key still worked... If it did work I bet it was hard to turn...
