Re: L&F key codes

Just a side note bezza1 if you cut a key .203 on all cuts this would make one hell of a good jiggle key for the entire series.

Re: L&F key codes

Ah this is just the info I need!! so if 92-201 has a bitting of 22221 do the rest follow in sequence

eg 22223
22231
22232
22233
22311
22312 etc?

A binary count up from the base number ? Or are they randomly bitted?

Re: L&F key codes

It is neither example Brian. The codes do have a progression that is predictable, not random, it goes like this:
22221
22211
22121
21221
12221
33331
33311
33131
etc.

Re: L&F key codes

Lowe and fletcher 92 series runs 92001 to 92800 - 92001 to 92600 uses the same blank LF1 used mainly on filing cabinets

usually found stamped with a 3 digit code on lock ie: 201

It runs from 92001 to 92600.
Actually , this serie runs from 92001 to 92200. From then on , it just repeats. Code 92201 is the same as 92001 and 92401.
It has 5 cuts and 3 depths , so 3 to the power of 5 = only 243 theoretical codes.

FYI , there is also a master key for this serie. It is the (Silca) LF8 keyblank cut to a repeatative bitting.

*Edit: There is also the 89 or N series , a double bitted key that is used a lot on automotive accesories that uses the exact same code list.

Re: L&F key codes

Ooh thats brilliant info. Especially as the keys repeat - I have a not particularly sexy table of bittings I'm building up so I can transpose the 201-> and 401-> and see what I have.

I'm hoping to spot a pattern in the bittings - some sort of grey code maybe that will be easy to spot and fill in the gaps.

Well here's to some interesting nights ahead lol :) thanks guys

PS any other bittings for 92- series keys gladly welcome!

Re: L&F key codes

I was kind of stumped by 3*3*3*3*3 only coming to 243 but the repeats now explain that.

Obviously no needs for a MACS calculation with only 3 depths. Will be interesting to see which combos are missed out... hmmmm

Re: L&F key codes

Have also noticed that not many locksmiths websites give away the bitting of the keys, they almost always show a blank and never the bitting and the "blind code" stamped on it lol

Can't be giving away too many secrets!!

Re: L&F key codes

That's correct buddy the l&f series as been used for many decades - on classic car ignitions - caravans - cabinets

also garage doors - and they where stamped on lock face makes ordering a new key easy - if you know the bitting

the 92601 to 92800 key is different and keyway reversed - shown in photo above and below
