Kwikset depth and question

I was messing around today and noticed that on my key gauge it says that Kwikset has a #7 depth or a .360 pin. My reference book also says that it has a #7, I have never seen this cut before. However, my Lab pin kit says only a #6 and no pin longer than that. What am I missing here! Besides a #7 cut, if it does exist, would make the key really weak, and vulnerable to breaking. Anybody know what I am seeing here?

Re: Kwikset depth and question
I'm pretty sure the 7th depth is only supposed to be used on masterkey systems. Which is the only way I've seen them used. It's also why the Kwikset keying kits don't have a 7th depth pin, since it will be using a master wafer anyways.

ahh! Thanks, I kinda tossed that around but didn't give it any more thought. Thanks!

Re: Kwikset depth and question
I have seen the #7 cut on original generic keys before never kwikset. I have seen them on like Design House and Atlas junk like that but the #7 was not a .360, more like a .315 ish pin.
Re: Kwikset depth and question
7 cut is for master key cuts. 6 regular bottom pins..EXcellent question Gabe !
