BEST lock breakdown

Here is a 7 pin BEST small format interchangeable core lock. There Core is made up of 3 parts, the plug the control sleeve and the shell. A core key is inserted and turned 20 degrees clockwise which turns the control sleeve and retracts the control lug. Ken Peterson makes a set of IC tension bars to assist in picking the core to the control line. The tension bar is inserted into the holes in the bottom of the control sleeve to put more tension on the control sheer line.

Re: BEST lock breakdown

Nice work there Kokomo. Good breakdown, and I like that you included some shots of the control tensors.

Re: BEST lock breakdown

Great pictures and tutorial Kokomo, I love these locks, but I seldom take them apart, I don't have the tools to dump them or recap them so when I take them apart it is usually to junk them and just see whats inside playing around.
I have been in the souls of many women, but I always end up on the soles of there shoes.

Re: BEST lock breakdown

I was wondering what the holes in the bottom of my best core were for, good to finally have an answer. I might have to pick up those peterson icore tension wrenches, they sound pretty good.

Re: BEST lock breakdown

I think Kokomolock posted some closeups of the IC core tools with a micrometer. Where'd you post that at?

Pictures aren't showing up for me, but I could really use this guide/breakdown. Any idea what the issue is?
