Removal of stuck cores.

Hi - I've encountered a problem with some old fleabay padlocks, and I was hoping someone here may have some additional insights.

I purchased a lot of Navy padlocks from eBay, and with the help of some WD-40 I picked one to control and made a control key and operating key. I was able to operate/remove the core from a number of the locks, but some of them I couldn't operate or remove the core. What techniques do you know of to get the old cores out? Soaking in WD40 and bashing the lock with a mallet doesn't open all locks. I'm assuming that locks stamped with the same number are keyed alike. Even though the control key turns and the core comes out a bit, I can't get the sucker out of some of them,

Try putting the core in a vise, I use thick cardboard so the core won't get wrecked. Take an adjustable wrench, and clamp it on the core, an try to force it to control

If they turn to control but the core does not come out put the key in a vice and pull really hard on the shackle. Sometimes the locks get bent and trap the core, some are just naturally tighter than others ;) ;)

Re: Removal of stuck cores.

Well, I got a few more of them open, perhaps giving the lubricant a bit of time helps. Cutting the keys a tiny bit low then giving them some encouragement with a mallet got one more core out.

For the curious, here's the pin information, 1 is closest to tip, first column is pin.

Stamp on core: 19E34

1: 3,2,12,6
2: 2,6,6,9
3: 5.2,12,4
4: 1,4,10,8
5 6,2,4,11
6: 3,6,8,6

Stamp on core: 20E34
1: 6,2,4,11
2: 2,4,10,7
3: 5,2,12,4
4:1,6,6,10
5: 4,2,12,5
6: 3,4,4,12

Most of the locks were 19E34, only one 20E34
