control pick, core stuck

The core is picked to control, but the core is cemented in there. Soaked the core in CLP and shot it a few times with non chlorinated brake cleaner. Still can't pry it out. Anyone have this happen and get one out? If so how did you do it? Thanks!

Re: control pick, core stuck

Get something behind the core or the pins and reef it out. Some cores are EXTREMELY tight.

I've found Tri-Flow to have some amazing penetration ability. Maybe it'd help?

I know it's allowed me to pull out some really tight spline keys a couple times.

I just had this happen. open the shackle and can you see the top of the core thru the shackle hole? if so use a small screw driver to tap the core out.... or smash the lock on a rubber mallet and it will pop out with a vengence.

Re: control pick, core stuck

I got another Best today and have/had the same-ish issue. I picked it to control and the core wouldn't drop out. It's loose enough to wiggle and jiggle in the padlock. I tried banging on the lock and it slipped back to locked. Arrgghhh gotta pick it again.

EDIT: New shit has come to light!
This lock has spools in it which I already knew..... but what I thought was control was a deep false set and one spool counter-rotation away from just being an open. It threw me since I could remove the tension wrench and the plug didn't go back to locked. Oh, well back to picking.

Thanks fellas going to try some Triflow and a rubber mallet. This thing is not moving. It may be old but I still have a soft spot for it. Davesnotthere nice I've never got one with spools yet!
