Dirty lock SFIC cleaning tips

I found a 7 pin Best padlock, and soaked it with some CLP. Been picking on it, but it still feels dirty/gummy. Any tips on getting the pins a little more active?

Brakleen. Squirt some in with the bible downwards and use a key or a pick to rake the pins to get it into the bible. Then turn the bible up and do it again.

Maybe let it soak if you can. Every little while give the pins a rake to loosen the crud.

Thanks I will give it a shot. They are very nice locks. Hope to get it to control.

I don't want to discourage you from picking them, but old locks like those (SFIC) end up with collapsed springs a lot of times. Dirt and other stuff get in there and the old copper springs squish down and stop springing back.

Lube them well and hold them so that the core is upright, then tap it on a hard surface to try and get all of the pins down to the bottom of the core. Then pick.

Excellent I will try that also. This thing has seen some weather. Found it in the linecrew yard and we (electric co.) have not used Best for quite some time.
