Re: Looking for a s&g 8077

Hi Al. The 8077 and 8088 are very difficult to open non destructively, which was their exact design requirement.

There is one very tedious and only sometimes successful method of manipulation which involves taking very accurate measurements of shackle movement. It's only partially successful because despite this being a direct entry fence lock, the connection between shackle and fence goes through a very cunning moving part, which in itself has some mechanical slop. The "noise" movements generated by this can be bigger than the "signal" movements that are genuine indications.

Your best bet is to try the factory defaults (and variations thereof) which is 25 25 25 0 (effectively awl 25 then r to zero to open) or occasionally amazingly just awl to 0 and pull.

Multiples of ten are also worth a go, 10 20 30 0 and so on. Note all combos must end in dialling back to zero to open.

Failing that, find a friendly dentist with an x Ray machine and a cavalier disregard for safety.

Best wishes,

Michael.
