WINTER X-GAMES

Here's two of the biggest pearls in my humble lock collection. Military padlocks decommisioned from an air-base near Detroit. They also hold a certain sentimental value to me... as they were my first introduction to Medeco. I've decided these locks are just too cool to be hoarded. If you are truly a 'lockie', you deserve to lay your lockpickin' paws on these bad boys at least once!

HI-SHEAR . . . . . . . . . . . Sargent & Greenleaf 831B

So, over the next several months, I'm sending these two military monsters on tour..... let the KP WINTER X-GAMES begin!

Rules of Engagement

IF YOU'RE INTERESTED: Post in this thread (specifying which lock you're interested in receiving) AND send me a PM containing your address. Convenient logistics will dictate the order of the locks' destinations more so than the order of the posts or PMs.

*Just how far can they go? I debated for some time if these should remain within the US. What was I thinking! We cannot exclude our fellow mates from across the pond!! LOL. However, in the interest of time, money, & risk; If a lock does go to the UK, I suggest we adjust the list, allowing it to make ALL its' stops while over there... before returning to the states.

SHIPPING DETAILS: To get us started, I'll pay to ship each of these locks in two different directions. You inturn, will pay to ship it to the next person, and so on...

- The combined value of these two locks is around $400-$500. Spend the extra few bucks to insure the package. lol
- Do NOT ship the lock w/ the key IN it. Instead, use the padded envelope I've provided, or something similar.
- Ship in a BOX, not a package. Also never hurts to be liberal with the bubble wrap.
- Be sure your return address is legible.

DISASSEMBLY / ASSEMBLY: Feel free to tear em' apart... that's half the fun!

-Refer to these articles prior to disassembling the lock. If you have any problems... no big deal... just ask.
HI-SHEAR ..... viewtopic.php?p=44887#p44887
S&G 831B ..... viewtopic.php?p=45363#p45363

- Hammer/chisel/pliers are NOT required! LOL Everything in these locks comes out & back in smoothly with no force.
- The 831B key- note the very low bitting near the bow, making it susceptible to bending and/or breaking.
- Be aware that the driver pins in both these locks vary in length, and their order DOES matter.
- Please... no cleaners or lubricants (it's already been done).

WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE LOCK: With the exception of #1, these are ONLY SUGGESTIONS to make this more fun & exciting for us.

1. *required* Enjoy & experience the lock HOWEVER you'd like before sending it on to the next person.
2. Shoot a video, then post it here. Out-of-box, After-the-fact, Fail, or Success... they're ALL great!
3. Share your thoughts & experience with us.

Final thoughts: I TRULY hate to exclude ANYONE! But if you just recently joined the forum... please try to appreciate my reluctancy. Also, I've no doubt that both locks will return to me eventually. However, if by chance you plan to keep one of these for yourself... at least have the courtesy to sign-up last, so we all get a chance to enjoy them first... lol. Thanks so much to all of you for helping me enjoy this wonderful hobby!

Re: WINTER X-GAMES

Thanks for all the kind words guys, but I really can't take credit. It's the locks!! They're very devoted to serving their KP country.. lol.
In fact, I tried to talk em' out of it, saying that the tour would place them far from their family through Christmas & New Years. Upon hearing this, they were down right offended, and became even more insistent upon serving their time. lol

Hahaa! Nice John. LOL You're officially BANNED from the Winter X-Games. LOL

Thanks for the offer, but no need for references. I've seen ya here & on LP101. You've quality posts & a genuine interest in the hobby.

Thanks Spanky. If you change your mind, the Hi-Shear will be there in Texas visiting Quabillion anyways.

The massive bodies can be a bit intimidating, but the old classics in these locks are actually a good place to start with Medeco. There's only one lipped mushroom in the Hi-Shear. And, the lower tolerances should make it a little easier to get a feel for rotating the pins.

I'm very interested in either lock that is logistically closest to me. Maybe there will be a few folks in Florida that would like a go at one or both! Thanks Oldfast!! Incredibly generous offer and very much appreciated by all!!

@the picker: I'd be delighted to send it your way!

@Bryanxwhite: You're next on the list friend, just awaiting your response.

Thanks for taking an interest guys. I actually find myself quite excited to get these locks in your hands! My hope is that people will have the same thrilling moments that I had with them. Moments not soon forgotten. Exciting stuff...very exciting :spinning:
