G'day MrPharmer,

You will need to use the Medeco Classic or BiAxial cards from IC, depending on what core is in the lock. My 826 had a 6 pin Classic, and my 833 had a BiAxial. I'm not 100% on what the 831 contains, but you should be able to identify it, look for the BiAxial logo, and check the keypins. BiAxial keypins have the little tab that limits the rotation 180 degrees from the sidebar gates, facing to the left of the plug, and the Classic has them at 90 deg, facing the rear of the lock.

Be careful though, you may have to create a custom card to cut the Classic correctly, as the depth information for it that is currently in IC is incorrect, with all depths being .008 deeper than they should be. I let the fellows there know, and they have been super responsive. They are working to correct the card as we speak, but I installed the latest update just now, and he change isn't reflected just yet. This site has the correct depth / space info --> http://www.locksafesystems.com/depth_and_space.htm#Medeco_Classic_Space_and_Depth. You can create a custom card by selecting 'Tools' and then 'Custom Series / Card' from the menu at the main page of IC. You will need to play around with some of the values to get it to accept your new card as well, I forget which ones I had to, but just do your best. I havent checked, but I suspect the depth / space info for BiAxial is proabably also incorrect, so be sure to cross-reference it before you cut a key.

Best of luck mate,

Medeco original is Card 36. You need the medeco jaw and cutter.

how/where did you get blanks? is yours just a non-restricted keyway?

I did the same thing, I bought the cutter and forgot the vice. Worse, being in AU, I had to import the cutter, and most likely will have to for the spare jaw as well. Would have been nice to ship them as one had I remembered!

I tried my Sky blanks in Jaw A and found that they will cut perfectly, but only to a 5 depth max, as they blanks sit deeper in the jaw, and hence the cutter will bottom out on it before reaching the 6. I confirmed with my key mic afterward, and all depths and spaces were bang on. I guess your mileage may vary here though, depending on what blank you are using. some others may not sit as well in the A Jaw, and could skew causing miscuts. The C Jaw will work better overall, as its set to clamp the blank in the bottom ward which is present on all blanks, but I agree that its a bullshit price.

Have fun Pharmer!

Looks like he had them custom made...the neuter bow is certainly not made by Medeco.
Very cool :D

I was gonna say it looks like a Keyway King job or some other custom milling operation.

I got some Biaxial blanks on ebay that actually have real factory bows and were milled down by someone, perhaps the seller, and can fit into a number of Medeco keyways including a bunch of DBK restricted keyways like Z3 and X3. Actually, I think I mailed a couple to you didn't I ?

Indeed. I use them for testing cylinders that I don't know the keyway for. Helps to narrow things down.
