Mult-lock garrison magic key

Always found the garrison 7 pins a real tough pick and bumping just isnt my thing.

I made myself what is in principle a bump key, however i shaved off the one edge to allow the use of a tension wrench

Its basically a rake key for dimple locks. Rake keys in normal pin tumblers are crap, however works a treat on mult-locks

very easy to make get yourself a blank and drill your cuts carefully with 1/8 drill bit. Then repeat with larger drills to remove excess material. You need to make sure you arent left with any ruts in which a pin could be trapped when inserted, pins should ride smoothly over the key

Re: Mult-lock garrison magic key

So the idea is to make a ripple down the key blank with the drill bit ?
for those of us that are mul-t-lock impaired, are the depth and spacing's hard work out?

Re: Mult-lock garrison magic key

spacing is already marked on the keys, if you get a used key, there is almost always a deepest cut, use that as a guide for depth then take a little more out of every cut to put it just below lowest cut

Re: Mult-lock garrison magic key

Nice dimple-rake.

Might be nice to make one out of high carbon steel for longer use.

I have thought about such a tool for a l-o-n-g time. So it's only fair you beat me to it.

Re: Mult-lock garrison magic key

Interesting tool, does this only work on the 7-pin locks or have you tried cutting a similar one for a 5 pin pin-in-pin Mul-T-Lock?

Re: Mult-lock garrison magic key

pin in pins are easy enough to pick, i wouldnt imagine it would work as well on those as the false set is quite a few degrees of turn
