I have a MTL pin in pin KIK cylinder, I got it from a member here, it's brand new and no key! it's the first one I have had and have actually seen. Any tips on picking it? what rotation and everything with just standard picks, I am told it it possible with a diamond pick. Anybody got any suggestions? I am a total noob on this one.

oh,damn, i would retrofit that into a schlage padlock...perhaps rear-shim it,then decode,so at least you are working a known bitting...
no wardings,so it's a MTL interactive,i believe

you all know more than I do!! I been playing around with it, in between practicing to get this WB picked on cam. The MTL is scary to me, I love it, but don't figure I will ever get it picked. I may shim it open if even possible and go through it to get a better understanding of what it does.

You can do it KID. I have always picked em CW, medium tension, and use your half diamond like you said. I can't tell from the outside if it is a garrison or interactive. How many pins can you feel in it? Just be a little careful, MTL likes to grab picks and lot let go.

Ten pins. (five inside five). Heavy tension to set the outer pins, and "tickle" the inner pins, once it sets. They are not easy! Have fun. You can use either a half diamond, a half ball, or dimple pick.

Oh it's likely got the warding toward the back... where it likes to eat your lockpicks. As kokomo mentioned, be careful for that, and calm when it does happen... stick a knife tool under the pins and lift them all simultaneously to remove your captured lockpick.

Yep! Sure as you said, it will grab and won't let go, first time it happened to me, I threw the lock, then threw myself on the floor and kicked my feet in a bizarre fit! Then, the pick just came out!! Now I know why my kids do that.

Maybe you've hit on something there! Perhaps I should try that method with that evil yale padlock I have!

Wouldn't mind seeing the video of that.

LOL! Magician59! Me too! But I also understand the sentiment... that MTL you sent me (thanks again!) is one tricky sucker to pick at least for me. I've tried using dimple lockpicks, a half diamond pick, and a short hook even... still no joy. But it is an interesting lock to try to pick for sure! I'm sure as my lockpicking skills continually improve (hopefully they continue to do so) and enough practice with the lock, I'll manage to get it picked.

The southord large half diamond will have this open in minutes, its better than any dimple picks iv used. Use it sideways in and rotate, very gentle tension.
Pin in Pin locks are a gimmick and pretty easy to pick due to the massive rotation once the first fat pins are set.
