A Mogul cylinder is one used on prison locks and is very large compared to a standard mortise cylinder. I purchased this on off ebay with no key.

Mogul Picked !!!!!

MTL pins, drivers 2 and 4 are mushroom, #4 also has master inner and outer pin, keypin 3 is a solid no inner pin master key pin.

Image

Side Pins, passive key profiling, to ensure correct key is used.

Image

Holes in plug that align with side pins, if a key is inserted without the side pin cuts, the side pins are forced out of the plug and into the holes in the housing preventing rotation.

Great pictures man. I can't get enough of the mogul cylinders. You are really mowing down those MTL's. Maybe you should slow down and take a few minutes on the next one...

Good job on that monster lock!
what do you think the reason behind having a solid pin in one chamber instead of the pin in pin?

From what I have read it is a standard part of master keying to defend against the Michaud Attack.

Thank You very much !!!!!!!

I received a MTL rim cylinder in trade with Uklockpicker that was the same keyway as the Mogul so I picked the rim cylinder and switched pins so I have a key for the Mogul. I will try to get the Mogul on cam !!!!!

I had a request to show some pics of the tools I am using so here they are.

Image

This is the Souber Dimple lock pick set.

Image

These are the 3 tool I use on the Mul-T-Lock.

Image

This is the small single ended pick with a curve to set the inner pins.

Image

This is the large end of the double tool use to set outer pins and is chamfered to help get under the pins. Yes I cheat those are index marks I put on the tools :) .

This is the small end of the double tool use to set inner pins also.

That's cool, but when you get it picked without a solid pin or master pins in the #3 and #4 chambers I will be madly impressed.
what happens is the inner pin of the top pin doesn't slide inside the solid pin in chamber #3, so the inner spooling effect doesn't take place, which it becomes almost like picking a normal pin. And in chamber #4 the inner top pin catches on the outter master pin and binds, then it's just a matter of pushing the outter bottom pin up, and adjusting the inner pin after the "large false setting" to push the rest of the inner master pin up into the plug. With your setup there, it's like picking 3 real chambers of a mul-t-lock interactive, and the other two chambers are like "bypassed" of their security found in a standard setting.

But that's still a wicked achievement, keep it up!
