in one of my Locksmith Books on High Security Locks

Did you write a locksmith book?

Where might one buy this book?

No, that is just a locksmith book by Bill Phillips.

Your follow-up on the cuts is exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted Tobias' book "Open in Thirty Seconds" but his prices are insane and I can't find an "online" copy. Now if someone would only sell the keys.

Tobias has now patented the code setting keys, so I don't imagine you'll see anyone selling commercial sets until after that patent expires.

I am not sure how what is essentially a key to Medeco locks is patentable, but then if Medeco hasn't challenged it he might have something. Then again, why would he patent it unless he wanted to sell them. Based on his book prices, I sense that making money is one of his objectives. The next best thing would be an expansion of the above article to a precise diagram, but now that I think about it, maybe it is in his patent application. I will see if I can find it.

Follow-up: Here is the link for the Tobias Patent:
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars ... =PTXT&s1=("medeco+lock".BSUM.+or+"medeco+lock".DETD.+or+"medeco+lock".DRWD.)&OS=SPEC/"medeco+lock"&RS=SPEC/"medeco+lock"

I wasn't able to get the drawings because I am on my Blackberry tablet, but I think you can read them on a laptop.

I keep trying to post a link to the Tobias Patent page, but the page expires. Just go to the US Patent Search page (http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/index.html)and search patent no. 8,302,439
Then go to the end of the patent pages and hit "Images". There are 17 pages of description and diagrams.
Note: to view the images you will need Internet Explorer and a plug-in available at: http://www.alternatiff.com/

The images don't print well (I tried to print them to a PDF) but they are clear online.
Here is an example: (I intend to read through the whole thing to see if there is a clear description, good enough to copy the keys.)

Well, I can't speak for him but the guy is a lawyer so I have a suspicion he might have researched the various legal issues related to such a patent.

I'm not familiar with the details of his business affiliations but if he's a consultant for Medeco or the ASSA/Abloy group, or has any plans to be in the future, a patent on these keys would be a good way to prevent or control commercial distribution of code setting keys.

You are correct. I am probably just pee'd off because his books are so expensive. Is he a consultant for Medeco? It would be surprising since he has ranted on Wired etc. that he enjoys making their lives miserable.
