I have only tried a few times to pick this Medeco but after reading XEO's write up on picking them I was inspired to try again. I got it in around 4 or so minutes. OK, I only got it going counter clockwise so far but hey.... At least I got it!!! :hbg:

I put it into a schlage housing so I wouldnt crush the KIK with the vise..
Now I start picking clockwise (after running the pick back and forth of course to mix the pins up...)

Nice! Ever try raking a medeco? I can rake a couple of mine open pretty quick sometimes. It's not reliable, but worth spending 30 secs on before you SPP.

I just rake like normal, with emphasis on side to side to rotate the pins.
Like most raking, it's kinda random luck. But it's happened for me (and other people) a bunch of times.

Congratulations.

Even counter clockwise qualifies you as a member of the Medeco club.

Well done. :hbg:

LOL, I just got off the phone with my nephew, He called when he got home because I sent him a text saying I picked a Medeco. He didnt know if I was kidding or not because he thought they were unpickable (and he is a locksmith..) He's jealous, Now he wants me to teach him how... yeah, like im an expert now

I guess the next time I am up that way I will try to show him what I learned... Of course I will give credit to XEO since it was his write up that made it click in my head. Tomorrow I think I will try to pick it clockwise.... I have got it to shearline that way but never was able to get the pins to line up right. Now I will follow his advice and let up on the tension a little and see if I can wiggle the pins to where they need to be.

Ok, my picks are kind of crappy.... what is the best pick to use to turn the pins in a Medeco?

It's very subjective. But most people seem to like some sort of hybrid reach. I prefer a standard hook.

Gratz on the medeco! One of these days.... Maybe I'll be good enough to pick one someday.
