Tootsie Roll impressioning

Ive seen it mentioned now a few times here and besides making me crave some sweets... This talk of impressioning with a tootsie roll (i would give credit due to the person this originated with if I knew who it was) is giving me ideas.

I have played with the key casting kit from lockmasters for duplicating keys with clay and woodsmetal. But now the tootsie roll idea has me wondering if there would be a market for the negative mold die for popular key blanks.

What i picture is rectangle dies with the negative imprint of popular key blanks similar to if you made clay impression of a blank. With these negative molds you could clamp the material of your choice between the two dies... And presto... Instant keyblank from the material of choice... Tootsie rolls not included ;)

Then you could use this temporary softer blank for impressioning etc.

Maybe we need a crowd source project... Hmmmmm. What do you think.

just fill with tootsie rolls.

I have one of these and it makes a good impression of the key with artist's clay.

Yeah thats similar to THE CLAM kit i have... But what i picture is some metal dies that can compress materials up to and harder than the clay or tootsie roll .
