Ive seen it mentioned now a few times here and besides making me crave some sweets... This talk of impressioning with a tootsie roll (i would give credit due to the person this originated with if I knew who it was) is giving me ideas.

I have played with the key casting kit from lockmasters for duplicating keys with clay and woodsmetal. But now the tootsie roll idea has me wondering if there would be a market for the negative mold die for popular key blanks.

What i picture is rectangle dies with the negative imprint of popular key blanks similar to if you made clay impression of a blank. With these negative molds you could clamp the material of your choice between the two dies... And presto... Instant keyblank from the material of choice... Tootsie rolls not included

Then you could use this temporary softer blank for impressioning etc.

Maybe we need a crowd source project... Hmmmmm. What do you think.

I have one of these and it makes a good impression of the key with artist's clay.

Yeah thats similar to THE CLAM kit i have... But what i picture is some metal dies that can compress materials up to and harder than the clay or tootsie roll .
