Kryptonite + Wafers = I need help!

Can anyone give me some tips on how best to open this Kryptonite bike lock?

Made a vid... do I really sound like that?

hmm, (scratches head)

Waffers are generally considered as low security so i don't think ingersoll would put wafers in they're high security locks.

Is it a standard key or sort of circular in shape?

It looks to me like a disk detainer lock but because i can't really see the keyway it's very hard to judge.

Any chance of a picture of the key and the keyway?

I should be able to help you a little more then.

I'm assuming its a wafer lock because the internals kinda resemble my basic wafer lock and I'm sure I heard Wiz say Ingersol had something to do with the Kryptonite series? I'm proberbly wrong on both points though?

Best pics I could get mate, hope these help? I really wanna get this thing open!

Yeah as wiz said they are wafers, It should be a matter of light tension and slowly pick them one by one and try and reaylly get a feel for them so that you can feel them setting and not oversetting.

Good luck.

Thanks man, yeah I'd seen that vid and was inspired to rake the lock I have in the same way.

The lock I have is a cable type... in fact this is the exact one. http://www.kryptonitelock.com/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?cid=1001&scid=1001&pid=1183
“TALON” lock pin retention system, which provides extra holding power
New, high security disc-style cylinder???

The keyway looks the same and I have raked and picked it with every tool I own, but it won't open. Plus I swear there are 6/8 wafers in there. I just wish I had more of an idea what works best... I'll try what you say Lew!

...hey do wafers bind like pins?

6/8 wafers huh? You can't tell with a short hook exactly how many there are? Anyway... snake rake, double ball, and half double ball are the ones to use to try to rake it open. Wafers are fragile though. If you whip on it too roughly the key will fail to open it anymore.
