Alaphablue's "ODB" BEST De-Cored
I received a package from the extremely generous fellow Alaphablue with quite a bunch of locks including a custom offset diamond pick he made from an industrial bandsaw blade. The pick is beyond incredible. Inside the box was a BEST SFIC padlock with no keys he has been battling for a long time. I've never seen a lock put up a battle like this. To quote something I said earlier, lifting pins 1 and 3 sounded like an old wooden castle door squeaking open. Just about THE craziest deceiving feedback ever. I'd be willing to bet money this thing has tons of spools in it. I tried picking it for hours and hours and it just wouldn't open. I did manage to get it once counter-clockwise but the shackle didn't open. I could have plug spinned it but that would be cheating in my eyes and I wanted the core out. I admitted defeat and decided to soak this thing in Hoppe's #9 gun solvent for 5 days. It sat in a glass bowl soaking in solvent inside of a ziplock bag. The liquid turned from dark brown to this crazy dark translucent green. I drained it, cleaned the bowl, then submerged it in Grey Goose vodka for another 3 days or so. The vodka turned yellow after a day, so I dumped it out and got it even more intoxicated with more Grey Goose (waste of Vodka I think NOT sir). Raking the pins while submerged in vodka sludge was still coming out of this. Eventually I took it out, and scrubbed the shell and shackle with a bronze wire brush. It appears to have some kind of permanent metal damage on both sides that probably won't come out without sanding it down. I dried it off and starting picking on it. The feedback was much better. No more old squeaky door. It took another one hour of picking to finally figure out the feedback on this... then I got the core out.
That was lots of fun Alaphablue, THANK you sir. I would like to get this thing fully cleaned, get it decoded and keys made and sent back to Alaphablue to have fun with.

Honestly, what the hell could have happened to this lock to build up such intense sludge inside? Being left outside submerged in mud/dirt for a few years? I'd love to know where this lock has been and the story behind it.
