Picking a good lock in seconds ONLY happens in movies, and it's sad that you can't separate reality from the time compressed fiction you watch." Of course, murphy's law kicks in immediately, and the lock pops in record time just to spite me.

So, I just moved into a new apartment with Kwikset deadbolt and knobset, and thought I'd take a shot at it so see... Quite literally, less than 2 seconds for each with a triple peak rake. I think it might actually be faster to just use that instead of the key from now on. Made me think (just for a second) maybe the movies weren't so far off. Landlord already said I can't change the lock, but maybe if I demonstrate...

I've seen raking happen about that speed, although I haven't gotten the hang of bumping yet to have rapid access that way.

lol... would that be actual waterboarding or movie waterboarding?

Either......as long as Dick Cheney is in charge.

The integrity of the admin tested by brutality? Why? Would bringing an old vice president in to now risk the penalty of the law for unwarranted spying and abuse of data gathering procedure be good? Even inviting Ronald Reagan to approve changes to your ToS and do big data and make some heatmap analysis of your user hovering, clicks, and keystrokes for housekeeping purposes might be more than you would like. If you start calling up Yeltsin to help you out, it's all over. Drowning by syringe helps no one.

On the flipside, freezing also can do the trick - they do the entire assembly later in the video here:

here's a tv show testing a tv show for realism. This can get meta pretty quick, like folding mirrors (a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection..) - they're legit showing the staging to show that they're real, but if this gets bad enough, as when magicians start pulling tricks with visual illusions for scientific 'proofs,' you'll need uncut staged demonstrations (as some have had happen with their picking videos veracity questioned), as visual perception itself can deceive. if CG pushes that envelope of verification and the uncanny valley becomes cheap and easy for manipulators to cross (deepfakes - actually locks are much easier and thus cheaper to fake than people, as metals' properties of light and reflection are easier to simulate), non-cartoon AR can have anyone stealing your glory days. What doors those keys and youtube hashcodes open, Lord knows..

Most locks used for exterior doors these days do come with some level of pick or bump protection.

Yeah totally. Take America for example. Most of the locks you can tickle open with a Bob Ross fan brush.

The code is hidden in the tumblers. One position opens the lock, another position opens one of these doors...

Yes, let's make a happy tree. Take a little Phthalo green and some Phthalo blue and some Van Dyke brown and make some happy leaves. Push the brush in.......

Looks like you can have some cheese on your popcorn once the Christian Bale movie is released. FWIW, Colin Powell would have Trumped Barack Obama had his wife not been quite confident of his assassination had he made the presidential run.
