HPC "Superior" set

I ordered a "superior" set from http://www.lockpicks.com here is the link: http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=554

When I opened the package I was disappointed to find that none of the hooks where handled. I can see in the picture one handled hook so I kind of expected to get at least one with the set. So my question is if anyone else have this set and if they got handled hooks with their sets. Btw, I sent them a e-mail about it and is waiting for a response.

I bought this kit a year ago: http://www.lockpickersmall.com//products.php?pid=157&detail=true&PHPSESSID=4d186d552c03bf12b1b2d8d32e626777and as you can see by the pictures, only four picks came with the metal riveted handles.

I suspect the only set that HPC makes in which all picks have riveted handles is this one: http://www.lockpickersmall.com//products.php?pid=133&detail=true

Maybe someone else that has a better grasp of the HPC product line can better answer your question. For now, it looks like it's time for the heatshrink - since shipping this back and forth from the US will kill your pocketbook!

Thanks Hallis. Btw, does heatshrink affect the feedback I will get from the picks? I have never tried using it before.

Heat shrink doesn't affect the feedback on the picks that I have put it on. Especially on picks w/o handles - the heat shrink is easier on the fingertips. The tip of my ring finger on my right hand tends to get a callous built up on it - and I found that the heatshrink helps soften the edge of the pick a bit.

Where should I look to get some heatshrink? The hardware store?

A general hardware or one specializing in electric/electronics should have heat shrink. Or so says my dad. He loves the stuff.

look ,if you do this you get a MUCH better tool.

use 2-part epoxy resin, and dual-layer heatshrink with the hot glue built in.
and an electronics/electricians' supply store is the place to find shrink wrap.

hope that helps.

Two part epoxy is a a type of glue that uses two different catalysts. You mix equal portions of the two separate catalysts on a scrap of cardboard with a toothpick, matchstick, etc.

Stir and mix the two catalysts (resins) and they will formulate a glue that is extremely hard - and will bond the two pieces of metal. Depending on the type of epoxy and how quick it dries, you generally have a 30 minute working time before it sets.

Hard. Real hard.

Go to a hardware store and tell them you need an epoxy that will work on metal. Don't get the epoxy on your fingers - or they'll stick together and they'll have to saw them off with a hacksaw. If they do, keep the blade. You can make some picks out of the steel.
