WHAT IS YOUR PIN KRYPTONITE ?

Still struggling with serrated pins and the various serrated hybrids at the moment... As someone else stated earlier, I actually welcome spools and mushrooms... I have an American 5200 with crazy bitting that almost gave me an aneurysm before I discovered top of keyway tension (thanks wizwazzle). That being said, I think my biggest headache when picking comes from restricted keyways, tight tolerances, and heavy springs.

Look at how rediculous they are:
They drop each other endlessly unless you use extreme catastrophic tension.

You could try locating & targeting the bumpstop pin first. I've only picked a few,
but it seems to work rather well. Once the bumpstop driver is set, the rest seem
to bind and set normally.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCOzGxqOUzs

Thanks Oldfast!
I actually have only picked it once (today I was making a marathon of all my picked locks and I managed to pop this open). I still have to make that happen again and learn how to feel it exactly.
I think the pin is on the 3rd position and it's the first to bind. I don't remember why I think it's in that position though. Maybe I just made that up...
How do they feel like?
What I noticed (or think I did) is that this padlock was really easier to overlift pins. And another padlock with standart spoorated configuration was pretty much easier. I still don't do it consistantly on those, but usually takes me about 5mins to pop it, unless I'm unlucky and it just doesn't pop on my 3rd reset
I still haven't learned exactly how they feel, so I guess I'll have to practice more.
I just found these 6 locks to be ironical
Go ahead, keep plugging away, picking on me! You will end up on bypass or with rigor mortise.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR PIN KRYPTONITE ?
serrated pins hurt me but i found that using just enough tension to keep the wrench in the keyway and lifting until the pin stops moving results in a set, thats how i beat my first american brand padlock and i get consistent results with it now
Re: WHAT IS YOUR PIN KRYPTONITE ?
serrated pins give me hell. I don't know which click is the set. I have some 1100s and 5200s I still can not get into because of them. im much better with spools

Increase your tension and listen and feel carefully, theres a subtle difference in the sound and feel of the set which signifies the real shearline.
