Got a Master 570 in the mail today. Got it picked open, the "dead core" made tension control especially important and gave the spools a different feel. Fun lock to pick.

I recently bought a set of GOSO dimple picks here for super cheap so thought I would pick them up. To be honest they are not that good, I had to spend a couple hours filing them down to be useful enough to pick. They do work well enough now though!

I am hoping that practicing on these Joujans will give me the skill to pick my MUL-T-lock Padlock soon! Wish me luck!

I agree! A very fun pick and it's a great lock for learning a little somethin' about tension.

I remember at the time I had a homemade tensor that I had left long... like 10" or so. lol
I could literally hang it there & the weight of it would do the work. Was a good illustration
actually. You could watch the handle go up with the counter-rotation as I lifted a spool...
then it would drop back down as it reached the shear line. The final pin would bring the
tensor up quite a ways, then the plug and tensor would swing down as the lock opened.

As far as I can tell, the 570 & 575 are the same lock... just made of different materials.

I agree tension is the key to picking the mul-t range also ! FALSE SET ! false set this is the binding pin at work

remove tension to the point of dropping all the other set pins and I find spending time setting the front pin and working down the stack pays off.

Noooo! Surely not Ringo? This tool has to be one of my favourite tools of all time (the 'centipede' Tibbe pick). I think it is pretty easy to get the hang of anyway but when you get proficient with it the Tibbe opens in no time at all. Like < 1 minute fast.

I love this tool. I would very much like to know who first invented it actually.

I picked an American padlock last week. Don't remember if it was a 701 or 2000 series.

The secret is in the Graphite.

I think the Graphite gets in between the serrated and spool pins to make it pick like a normal pin.

Non-cutaway from Snowyboy. Don't know what brand of lock it is, but it is a pin-in-pin design with outer pins that are much smaller than Mul-T-Lock. Six pin channels, of which five pin stacks are pin-in-pin, and the final stack that looks to be for some sort of interactive key - probably spring loaded, as there is nothing inside the keyway below to push a moving part of the key upward. If you know what brand/model it is, please let me know!

I guess it's a MT5, and the last pin should be the "alpha spring" chamber.
You may check datagram MTL paper, it's a very interesting read.

Here's a pic of a funky little lock I found recently. It's old, but works well enough I guess. No Idea what the S.S.B stands for!

The shackle guards make it cut and shim resistant. I was not able to rake it open, but I did SPP it.
