ForSquirel, after picking it again I had no interest to gut it and see standard pins. But yesterday I picked a regular 5 pin schlage rim cylinder which I thought were all standards plus they felt all standards (no false set what so ever) turned out to be 4 nice deep spools and 1 standard. So now I will be gutting the US Lock and after checking why the schlage felt like that. crazy stuff.

Here are the guts of the 5 pin schlage and the reason why there was no false set LMAO. The spools arent as deep as I thought after I had another look.

My very first Best 7 Pin lock. Had a few minutes while smoking and here is the results. No security pins .

Anyone know the difference in the Best pinning? a2 or a3 or something like that and what that even is?

To my knowledge, Best does not use security pins though. But by no means
does that keep them from being a real bitch to pick at times. Nice job!!!

I have picked it 2 more times after that and both to control. Going to keep trying, I want it to pop open

There are spool pins available for SFIC, but only for certain pin lengths. Don't think Best themselves have them, but they do exist.

There are (3) keying systems for SFIC...A2, A3, and A4. They use different stack heights and pin sizes, A2 is the most common.

I was also under the impression that Best does not offer security pins, and that those encountered in their cores are aftermarket pins, but I just reread Matt Blaze's article on SFIC locks & he states that security pins are available as an option from Best.

I have a couple and one of them is a really "fun" pick. Took me ages to work it out - still takes a while to open it.

Do you find the feel of them to be quite different from brass locks?

Anyway, Congrats. they are not as easy as a lot of people think - at least the six pin models.

Being difficult to pick does not mean they are very secure. A hammer will open one very quickly.
