Starting to look more like the American padlock I want to pick.
Up to 5 pins
2 serrated pins
3 spools.

Now you need a few spoorated driver pins. :D

Maybe Flywheel can whip me up a batch, and some serrated key pins as well. :D

Nice picking Mr. Sour.
Do you have any tips on picking IC cores to Control?

Thanks

No. Nothing xeo didnt cover. I pick it open, then shoot for a different bitting pattern. I purposely overset pins past what they were when picked open to operating and also I will skip them so they are underset from what they were when picked open to operating. Some chambers may have 5 different pins in them because of heavy master keying.

I think this is from a trade with JeffMoss. Thanks!
Nothing tricky except my heavy handed ways.

Almost missed my shout out, thanks!

Picked the Segal Hines System lock. It has milled indentations in the plug that catch trap pins when picked. It works. Lock seized up and I had to disassemble it for it to work again.

Cleveland 4-way. 8 levers, interesting design.

Kaba, something.. Haven't counted how many pins are in it, I think 10.

And a really evil Evva. 5 pins, spooled, shallowest cut is in the back.

Finally, opened the Corbin, another from JeffMoss. Thanks!

This is the first time I wished I had a vise to hold the lock. I was convinced that pin three was a spool, but apparently it was the gatekeeper.

Had a proper height key pin, so now it is a six pin lock with an extra home brew security pin. Yay!
Take it easy :pimpmofo:

Outstanding work, FF. Especially that EVVA. The camera does not capture just how tight that keyway is at the top. And that Kaba has pins coming from four or five directions. Kudos!

Flywheel - Nice pickin' on that Corbin. What nifty security pin did you add?

I swapped the spools into other spots and added the single deep groove driver to slot six. Fortunately, I had a key pin that was tall enough to ride the nose of the key. My beginner mods are a little extreme. Shallow cuts and sharp serrations probably work the best. But, it never hurts to throw an insanely deep spool (true spool, not what is shown below) in the middle of normal security pins.

After a hectic week, I finally had time to try some locks I received from a trade, that arrived earlier this week.

Two Sargents, two BESTs (picked to operating) & a Corbin. All these brands are new to me - they are almost non-existent in Australia. I've never had experience of a Best or other SFIC before, I will definitely try to get a variety of these to play with! Some of the BEST keyways look quite tricky!!

Now I know you are thinking, "Good job picking that open Flywheel. You are one heck of a guy." I want you to hold that thought in your head while you look at the next picture...

It would be kind of embarrassing if I didn't get it open. :wanker:

I just experienced one of those brief periods of time where I could open anything! Anything American anyway. Just one after the other. This must be how you Super pickers feel. I wonder if I can knock open the remainders tomorrow?

Good night and good luck.

Over the last few days I spent some time cleaning up some old mistreated locks. Got about three dozen for twenty dollars. Nothing fancy. A bunch of older sesamee combination locks, lots of masters that aren't so common anymore #2,7,15, and some more corbins from the 20's-30's (probably). I went from dragging my feet on cleaning them to being pretty happy when I could not open some of the locks. One ancient #3 that is really banged up. It was the only one that came unlocked and I had to use some force to close it. Might be broken. The rest are corbins. One started out looking like it was dropped in a bucket of paint followed by a dunk in black grease. Took some doing to even see the name and keyway. I didn't take the brass patina off, just all the gross on top of it. Applying tension back and forth makes an unpleasant sticky noise. It still has junk in it. The other two corbins I can't open have the same tight keyway. One has a nasty bitting, I can feel it. Takes some extra push even after it has been cleaned up and I bent a slender hook on it earlier. That one is going to fall today. The other has some broken springs. Gotten locks like that open before. It is just a matter of preventing or dislodging binding metal bits.
