A Medeco Biaxial 6 pin received today, no key:



Tensioning clockwise but picking in the european orientation (I returned it for the picture )

Heres my pick today. An 8 Lever, Lowe & Fletcher lock.

Yeah, lol... don't confuse us. Ha! Nice pickin'!

So which pick(s) do you prefer for Medecos?

6 pin medeco biaxial no key.
Used a southord max 06b and a cut down z wrench from a dimple pick set to use as bottom(top) of keyway. Picked it euro style counter clockwise.

No idea how you would do this without seeing the pins...

PS. For the light source, I cut one end of a TOSLINK cable and removed some of the outer layer of the cable. Then I taped the other end (with the connector still attached) to a flashlight. I suppose I should build something with an actual TOSLINK socket for better light, but those mostly come with red LEDs.

brilliant! I had thoughts about using a fiber-optic audio cable the same way (maybe that's what TOSLINK is?), just hadn't tried it yet. Nice pickin'

Yup - that's it. The advantage of having the connector even if you don't use an actual socket is that it provides a bigger flatter surface area to attach to stuff. And TOSLINK is the only kind of connectorized fiber cables I could think of that's thick enough to use for this purpose. But should build a proper light source with a TOSLINK socket and white LED with adjustable power.

For this Medeco, I only used the blue pick. (Brand Le Corbeau)
I also sometimes use black for the rotation of the pins. It is very thin (0.34mm) and very flexible.



The Peterson is just there for comparison.

7 Pin Trioving. No key, but I will try and locate blanks..

@ratlock, really enjoying seeing your lever picking posts... I'm just about to finish my first homebrew 6-gauge(ish, 4mm so slightly less than 6ga., or could be pretty easily turned down to 7ga. diameter) 2-in-1 pick, and I'm gonna need something to try it out on... any suggestions? Haven't been able to find much available/affordable. Was thinking about the S&G 6804, but don't know if that's a good starting point or if I'd be diving in the deep end
I also have materials to make these in 3mm (~9ga) and 2mm(~12ga) diameters, but not sure what's going to be most useful. I read somewhere the 6ga will open "lots of locks" so started there...

Hi @madsamurai. Getting into levers, the easyest way to start is on a lever padlock, or a non curtain door lock. 2 in1 picks can be expensive, but cheap ones can be found on dhgate or banggood.
The only problem I find with the 2in1s, is it can be expensive if you grind one down to suit a lock, and make a mistake. Or find it wont suit another lock for another reason.
(almost every lock has its little quirks)
I would start off levers by using 16swg piano wire, and learning to fashion a tensioner for the bolt, and a pick for the levers.

That way you dont spend loads of money to start off, and you learn loads by your mistakes. I still prefer wires, and am working on a new set of stainless tension tools right now.

Im a pretty average picker, but have made about every mistake that could be made in my lock picking journey.

The locks on most front doors in my area in Scotland are mostly lever/mortice locks. with euros becoming more and more the norm. If youd like an easy non curtain lock to start off on let me know.
Ive never picked a sargent & greenleaf lever lock so dont know how easy or hard that particular lock is, but id say the bar would be too high if your just starting levers.
