Picking magnetic locks?

My friend mentioned that the place he works at uses these magnetic locks that cost around $400 and says that those can't be picked. I told him that yes, it can but with difficulty. Is this true? He seemed so sure but then again, he knows almost nothing about lockpicking except the very basics and from what I've seen every lock i've seen can be picked. The only thing is that i haven't looked at magnetic locks yet. I don't know the company or model of the lock and neither does he but it seems to be a high end lock. He says the key is magnetic so that stops any lockpickers. What are your opinions or have any of you picked a lock like this?"

Thats a simple magnetic lock and would not cost $400. If ur friend is refering to a MIWA or MCS, then yes, he is right. I have never seen or met any one who has picked those locks.

+1, I have even messed with a Miwa and i could get pin movement util tension was applied to the plug, then the pins would not move at all. And at 400.00 I am thinking your friend was talking about these http://www.securitron.com/en/site/securitron/Products/Electromagnetic-Locks-and-Accessories/ Electromagnetic Locks!!

are there other security problems with MIWA or MCS? Because if it works so well, why isn't it used more widely by most businesses?

well, they cost alot. and most buralries are commited by DE via windows of kicking in doors, or by employees themselves. Most companies are insured and get recouped for stolen property. So why pay $400 for a lock that will never be touched by a lock pick?

If they're Avva MCS locks then as far as I'm aware this is the only mechanical lock never to have been picked. Does everyone else agree on this?
