I can't figure out how to make my camera work to do a video, but I would really like to prove that I can pick the core out of my falcon, I know, I talk about it all the time but I can do it now most of the time. It's really weird, I have never been able to pick the lock, just pick the core out.

I have several best padlocks & have never picked any open but I can pick them all to the control line same as you're self but hey once the core is out the lock is open

Awol70 nice work man & that de-code annex looks pretty cool so I am guessing you have a punch to get the pin stacks out in the first place & you must also have the little brass discs for the top holes in the core or can the old ones be re used? looking forward to seeing you're keys

so how do you get the core out of a lock? i've seen a few videos by wizz who is using a screwdriver to get them out. my locks dont have a screw so is there any other way? some of my locks have a little hole above the keyway. does anyone know what those are good for?

Best sfic use a control key, which removes the core,no tools, just the key.
there are usually 3 separate shearlines,ctrl,operating,and master.
there is a LOT of info out there,even right here on the site.

The little hole you are probably looking at is a drain hole, most all padlocks have them to drain the water out of the lock, such as rain that runs down the shackle. Not all padlocks can be repinned or rekeyed , not without cutting them open anyway, the ones that you can rekey, such as you have mentioned whiz taking apart with a screwdriver, are the exception, he takes a hex wrench or a screwdriver and unscrews the retaing screw dropping out the core.

no, the caps and springs must be replaced.
i am using the appropriate sized allen key to punch out the pinstacks at the moment.
my blanks should be here in a week or 3...=/

i just have a hell of a time ID'ng the keyways.
any learning aids you know of?

I think you can get a 15 key set for IDing for cheap off eBay. I just use a key hole chart if I don't have the key and hope for the best. lol

Well I thought I would take a look and see if I could find the set but turned up nota. You could ask cuntrywidelocksmith and I bet he would make you a set.

and my uncle told me the holes where for lubrication purposes or is this true also?
