Mul-T-Lock Identification

Hi guys,

I just picked my first Mul-T-Lock! (woohoo) (woohoo) (woohoo) (woohoo)

I don't have it on video yet, but that will come soon enough.
Anyway, I know it's a 5 pin pin-in-pin system, but what kind of lock is it exactly?

Thanks!

You have a standard mortise lock cylinder. The cylinder threads into the body of the lock and is retained in place by a set screw, operated from the edge of the lock. When you turn the key, the cam on the back of the cylinder acts to throw/retract the deadbolt, and/or retracts a latch; all depending on the structural function of the lock.

Re: Mul-T-Lock Identification

Thanks guys!

@magician59, that's the type of lock, but what type of Mul-T-Lock is it?
Is it just called "Classic", plain and simple?

btw, here's the video of the pick:

Unfortunately I misplaced one of the springs during the gutting so I'm still searching for it.... it's not really a common size so it's going to be difficult to replace it if necessary :(

Get one of these mats - they are a lifesaver and cut down on lost pins & springs.

Thanks mate.
I used the goso dimple pick and the tension wrench which is provided with that set.
I did pick my car door a few days ago with one of the tools we traded ;)

FIat Seiciento from 2001, so it's a pretty straight forward lock :)

Re: Mul-T-Lock Identification

Good frickin job! :-D

Mul-T-Lock continues to destroy me; I'm considering picking up some of the dimple picks (either Gozo or maybe even Souber). Would you say that they are very helpful when picking these things (versus a half-diamond/half-ball/etc...)?

Thanks!
Well, I only use one pick from that set, and that's the thinnest pick in there as it's easier to get above the pins. Some pins (DOM, KABA) are so difficult to get through with thicker picks, so that one is my favorite.
A half diamond should work as well, if you make the tip thinner then usual.

But this is my first multilock, so I'm by no means an expert here (currently playing with an interactive one and hopefully buying the MT5 soon :) ). I've seen lockpickingmen (Crazy on this forum) pick several MTL's so he might be a better person for advise ;)

Cheers,

Mark
