an old lockwood with custom milled impressioned keys BEFORE

a few "before" shots of an old beauty of a lockwood,(from before the times they were part of ™assa/abloy group.
since lockwood blanks are relatively obscure in canada and the U.S.
the blanks required to impression this lock had to be modded to fit the lockwood profile...
this is going to be a gem when it's done.

I happen to have some lockwood blanks (old stock). Which one do you need specifically? If you would like I can check my wall and send you a couple (if I've got them).

Post a picture of the keyway, I've yet to find a lockwood profile that Silca or Ilco don't make.

Total guess, but looking at the key it could be an old C1

Silca LW4?

If you've got vernier calipers, I'd love to know the height of the keyway and the length from shoulder to the first cut.

I'll be bold, and ask for them in mm too :D

Compare to these:

Re: an old lockwood with custom milled impressioned keys BEFORE

although Canada does use the metric system,my only vernier caliper is SAE...
.550 from shoulder to center of first cut.
.340 from the bottom of the key to the top of the blade

oh, and the profile is IDENTICAL to my other lockwoods,ie 234....just this is 5-pin
and 234-c45 are 6-pin( to the best of my knowledge...i may be wrong..),but exact profile match.

If it's exactly the same as your 234, then yes it is LW4.
The 234 use LW4B's, which are 6 pin.

Odd spacing though. Did you impression those keys?

If you've got a key machine, and some 6pin blanks, just get one 5pin to copy from and load both into the duplicator, just cut the extra length off the 6pin. Flip them over and do the back side then. Piece of piss.

I think your KW1's should fit shouldn't they? we don't use much kwikset here

Thanks for the help....I am not sure about the kw1 ,we use mostly weiser here in canada, espescially on residences.
I know where there is a bucket of kw1 keys;

(I might get lucky 8-)
As for the spacing,it could be me..what is the proper
Lockwood #?

I gave you the proper lockwood S&D on the previous post
Image

234 padlocks are common as anything here in aus. Lockwood and J.Larsons still make them.
Older lockwoods were produced in 5pin models, like yours, but aren't really as common now because most in-line restricted keyways are 6pin (apart from some OZ# series)

I've referenced the drill locations for you to remove the plugs in that lock.
There are long steel pins behind these plugs that either retain the shackle, or retain the plug. Over time and use, these steel pins wear out, causing loose plugs or shackles coming out of the body. Doubtful if anyone over there would have anything to replace the parts with, so don't pop them unless you want to part out the lock.
