When do you proceed to the next lock?

When do you precede to the next lock?

In my attempts to LEARN a particular lock not just just pick it once and move on. Neither have I just memorized the pin order. For some odd reason I hit a few stumbling blocks in that when I thought (oh I now know how to pock this platform) after successfully single pin picking it more than several times without tooo much difficulty I moved to the next.

Got up to the Master #532 and alllmost get it...then nope, not yet?! So went back to the previous one, had difficulty opening it again, then went back another level same thing. Went back until could get them open on command. (or in a short reasonable time should say)

So today had a MAJOR breakthrough in my learning. > went clear back to my Abus Titalium.
I have never seen a false set on the first pin, but have to give it about three consecutive clicks. Also have to use extreme finesse, then the rest of the pins I can feel when each one gives slight reverse rotation on the core.

Now the other locks going back forward are having me scratching my head, as they are all master locks. The #150 I can open but not just easily all the time one day get it afew times, then go back and have to learn it all over again. The #570 can open it sort of like the 150, but struggle a bit more. Already stated the #532 almost get then not yet successful. (the Master #17 also ..almost then, nope)

I know these cannot be this tough. Any tips or pointers? With these they just don't seem to give me much feedback. When I do get them to click, (using more tention, have neven opened them that way. Only with very light, and as stated the feedback is little to none, as like other locks.

Sorry for the long post, but have struggled with these for a long, long, long time.
I want to learn the lock type, not just pick it once and move on. So I will be able to pick anything as I progress. I know it takes longer, but in the end I believe will have better results with faster times, instead of taking forever like some of the vids online.

Some like to successfully pick and move on. Some practice for their profession. There's lots of motivations. What is yours?

Becoming highly reliable against a particular lock model, having at least several in different conditions of wear is best. You might also have to go back and play with "easy" locks on occasion or lose the feel that made them easy.

If you're serious about maximizing your skill you need to acquire multiples of each lock type with varying bittings and pick them repeatedly. You never really "move on" as you'll want to be constantly picking random different locks from your collection to keep the skill sharp and commit it to long term muscle memory. Picking using different tensioners and picks while doing this is the ideal way to increase your skill. Maximum variation in tools and locks mixed with repetition gives you the highest skill increases over time.

I just do this for a hobby, although have steadily been at it for a few years. Now that I am working my way up from Southord lock in the box to locklabs lock course I find myself able to progress a few locks then get stuck on one. Figure I mightry another one either succeed and get stuck on the next or open it and have trouble opening it in a reasonable time for me, or not at all for a while again.

Just ordered the Sparrows Night School kit, going to try it out and see if it helps me out with the spool and serrated pins. Can usually open spools easy enough after a false set, except the Master locks? they don't react like others and having difficulty figuring out how to best them. One day. I can open them all day, the next might not succeed for quite a while again. ...sigh

When do you precede to the next lock?

You mean proceed. Look it up.

Welcome to the age of small screens and auto correct.
I think most understood the meaning behind the title. But, thank you for kindly pointing out the faux-pas.

Now back to the show..
