I'm trying to remove a schlage primus lfic core from a padlock and I don't have the control key. I see posts where people added solder to their key but my solder is just sliding right off, it won't stick to key. Anyone know how to get this core out?

You need silver solder and an oxy torch. The control key is just a normal key but with a 7th pin spot added to it.

I used normal flux cored lead tin electrical solder with a larger electrical soldering iron. You need to clean the tip of the key really well with steel wool or a dremel and use added flux all over the tip of the key to get it clean enough for the solder to stick. Heat the key up good and hot and wait for all the added flux to bubble off before globing on some solder. If you do it on a flat surface that wont pull away any heat like a ceramic tile you should not have to gob on too much solder to get enough of a protrusion.

I always have an additional bottle of flux for doing soldering so you always get a good joint, especially on old corroded components.

Hope that helps

Then file down the tip to the height of a 6 cut.
