Abloy disklock key shape

Hello guys, I have a question, in that publication " Abloy Disklock/Exec (August 2005)" (link : https://toool.nl/images/f/f3/Abloypart2.pdf) there are no informations about the angles of the cuts on the key, to me we have in degrees :

Cut 1 : 18 - 90
Cut 2 : 36 - 72
Cut 3 : 54 - 54
Cut 4 : 72 - 36
Cut 5 : 90 - 18

Basically it's 18 degrees increments because we have 5 possible inclinaisons (90/5=18). But it seems like (if I have a look on the shape of the key cuts) it's actually 15 degrees increment... Am I wrong ?

Thx in advance for your answer.

In my book: "The 0 cut is actually an uncut portion of the key, while the 6 cut is cut completely around. All other cuts are formed by precise angled cuts. The peaks of the angled cuts advance at 15 degree increments.

Here is a picture.

Re: Abloy disklock key shape

They go at 15 degrees and there are 7 cuts. 7 x 15 = 90 degrees. However, there is something that needs to be noted about these cuts. In reality there are only 6 cuts. The 0 cut and the 1 cut do the same things to a code disc (any disc that is not a profile disc).

You get 0 cuts on the profile discs but it is the profile itself that turns these discs. The top of the key could contain any cut at all! A soon as the key begins to turn the profile disks begin to turn too. The 0 cuts on the code discs don't budge for 15 degrees.

You do get '0 cuts' on code discs BUT they behave exactly the same as a 1 cut in terms of whereabouts the key makes contact with the discs. Look at the picture above; the right-hand side of the disc is unbroken on both the 0 and the 1 cut. On the code discs it is this part of the key that moves the discs about.

I hope this makes sense!

Re: Abloy disklock key shape

I would say, since the 0 cut is uncut, you only have 6 cuts that are taken into account in the calculus (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

However I did understand, thanks.

So at the end we have :

0 : Uncut
1 : 15 - 90
2 : 30 - 60
3 : 45 - 45
4 : 60 - 30
5 : 90 - 15
6 : cut all the way round

Cheers !
