So my next question is......Do these use standard schlage pins?
macgng; it's completely unnecessary to have ~15$ in keys for a 50¢ lock ... but we all do it anyway :P

Yes they use standard Schlage pins. They can be master keyed just like a normal Schlage etc.

Pick the lock to operating clockwise, turn the plug to just before the control position and press in and hold the silver small 7th pin in the far back of the lock with your pick. While holding the pin in turn the lock clockwise and it should stop right at control and let you remove the core.

Thanks Xeo I will try it. Transmission took a big steaming dump on my crown vic. Dealing with that and hoping I don't snap any exhaust manifold studs.

I was messing with it last night for a few minutes with no luck. I will keep trying, but I am sending Mossman some locks. I'd atleast like to get it out before that just to do it.

Re: Schlage Kryptonite PL4000 rekey ?

Its 0-bitted. You could literally stick a tension wrench and lift up all the pinstacks at once until the plug turns a bit... remove the tensioner and then press in that 7th pin to activate the control mechanism and then turn it until it stops and remove it.

The 7th pin feels set when picked. I'm not getting anything when pressing and turning to the 20° area.

Or I will just remove the core with my EF control blank when you send me the padlock :)
